Mirato is a free iPhone app that lets musicians turn PDF sheet music pages with a wink, using the device's TrueDepth camera — the same hardware behind Face ID. It works entirely offline, with no Wi-Fi, no registration, and no cloud upload. Compatible with any PDF score, from scanned manuscripts to digital editions. Available on the App Store at no cost.

Which iPhones are compatible with Mirato?

Mirato requires Face ID (TrueDepth camera). It works on iPhone X and later, including iPhone 15 and 16. Also on iPad Pro with Face ID.

Do I need an internet connection to use Mirato?

No. All gaze processing happens on your device, so you can play on stage, at a stand with no Wi-Fi or on a plane.

Can I choose which wink turns forward?

Yes. In settings you decide whether the left eye advances and the right eye goes back, or vice versa. You can also set the minimum wink duration to avoid unintentional blinks.

Does Mirato record or upload my face to the cloud?

Never. Mirato uses the TrueDepth camera in real time only to detect the wink gesture — no video is recorded and no face geometry is stored. The depth data is processed in RAM and discarded the moment the gesture is recognized. Mirato does not send video, images, or biometric data to any server, and never interacts with Face ID or Apple's identity system.

Does it work with two-page scores?

Yes. You can view two pages side by side on iPad, or switch between single and double view on iPhone. One wink turns the whole spread.

Is Mirato compatible with scanned scores?

Yes. Mirato opens any PDF, including those scanned from physical scores. It does not require the PDF to be from a specific digital edition.

How much does Mirato cost?

Mirato is free to download and use, with no ads and no subscription. The current version includes all core features: PDF import, wink-triggered page turning, and full offline operation. Optional advanced features for professionals — such as setlists, annotation, and ensemble mode — are planned for a future tier and will be clearly identified before any charge.

Privacy Policy

Summary: Mirato does not collect, store or share any personal data about you. The camera is used exclusively on-device, in real time, and your gaze data is discarded instantly. No accounts, no servers, no ads.

1. Data controller

Mirato is an application developed by Pablo J. Dols, based in Spain. For any privacy query, write to hola@miratoapp.com.

2. Data Mirato does NOT collect

Mirato is designed from the ground up to need no personal data. Specifically, the application:

Does not create or require user accounts.
Does not store images, video or biometric data derived from the TrueDepth camera.
Does not send any information to external servers.
Does not include analytics, telemetry or usage tracking tools.
Does not display advertising of any kind.

3. Use of the TrueDepth camera

Mirato requests access to the front TrueDepth camera of your iPhone or iPad exclusively to detect eye winks in real time. This processing happens entirely on your device via Apple's ARKit framework.

Eye position data is processed frame by frame and discarded immediately without being stored in persistent memory, on the device or on any server. Mirato cannot access Apple's Face ID data or any mathematical representation of your face.

You can revoke camera permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → Mirato. Without camera permission the wink feature will be unavailable, but you can navigate scores by tapping the screen.

4. PDF files

The PDF scores you import into Mirato are stored locally on your device, inside the app's private container managed by iOS. Mirato does not access those files outside the app or upload them to any cloud service.

If you have iCloud Drive enabled on your device, iOS may automatically sync app files with your iCloud account according to your personal settings. That process is managed entirely by Apple and is outside Mirato's control.

5. In-app purchases

Mirato is currently completely free. If optional purchases are introduced in the future, they will be processed through Apple's App Store. Mirato does not process or store payment data; that is handled entirely by Apple.

6. Minors

Mirato is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from minors. As an app without registration or data collection, there is no risk of inadvertent processing of minors' data.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

Since Mirato does not collect or store personal data, there is no profile of you on which to exercise rights of access, rectification, erasure or portability. If you have any questions, write to hola@miratoapp.com and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Apple's policy

Mirato is distributed exclusively through Apple's App Store. Apple may collect certain aggregated diagnostic and usage information according to its own privacy policy, which you can consult at apple.com/privacy.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this document and, for significant changes, communicate it via a note in the app. Continued use of Mirato after changes are published implies acceptance of the updated policy.
